Well, you may not realize this but out in California there have been three cities which have filed bankruptcy, two were rather large; San Bernardino and Stockton California. We’ve also learned of corruption in many of our smaller cities, the most notable was; Bell California. What’s going on you ask? Well, it has to do with corruption, union labor on the take, leadership malfeasance, and the occasional accounting error. Now then let me ask you a question, and let’s move away from the city level and work at the county level.
Do you know who is on the take at your local county government offices? Not long ago I was talking to a gentleman that works for one of the largest counties in the country, and he works in the building and safety division, it’s filled with an army of building inspectors, code enforcement, and regulators. He told me that he was saddened, and almost sickened by the fact that 8 to 10% of the people in that job were on the take. In other words, they could be bribed to sign off on building permits, or overlook various safety requirements if the price was right.
